Make the correct bearing choice right from the start, with integrated SKF calculation services
SKF offers cloud services (APIs) to calculate bearing performance and stiffness. These services allow you to have direct access to SKF’s latest bearing technology and up-to-date, complete, and correct bearing data – all integrated into your own preferred design tool...
As such, a new machine design is verified more realistically and efficiently as it enables making appropriate bearing choices right from the start. The calculation services enable easy access to the following bearing performance calculations:
- SKF rating life (including GBLM rating life for specific bearing series)
- Friction and power loss
- Grease life and relubrication interval
- Static safety
- Minimum load
- Bearing frequencies
- Lubrication conditions (viscosity, kappa)
- Adjusted reference speed
- Bearing stiffness
- ISO/TS 16281 modified reference rating life
Since bearings can significantly influence system behaviour, the more realistic bearing representation offered by these services allows for optimization of bearing selection and system design. The calculations also:
- Account for full internal micro-geometry
- Offer direct connection to SKF bearing database with up-to-date, complete, and correct bearing data
- Show the full benefits of SKF Explorer and hybrid bearings
- Include warnings and info messages regarding model validity and limitations
The calculation services can be integrated on request but are also available in various design and simulation tools:

Getting access
Access to the SKF calculation services is handled within each simulation tool, usually via the calculation settings. It requires a one-time registration at SKF through this form.
Are you interested in embedding these services into your design tool, please contact us via skfbearingmodule@skf.com.
