Description:
In the attached models a shaft system with three bearings (an overconstrained system) is used. A moment in YZ (around X axis) is applied.
The axial position of the bending moment is changed (in SimPro Expert models).
The clearance of the different bearings is varied in different combinations
The models will demonstrate and explain the effect of the distribution of the bearing clearance in the whole system and axial position of the bending moment on the reaction forces on the three bearings.
A detailed explanation can be found in the report of the corresponding model.
- Option 1: bending moment YZ (around X) in at z = 55 mm
- Option 2: bending moment YZ (around X) in at z = 160 mm (SimPro Expert model)
- Variation of bearing clearance:
- Calculation with zero clearance (SimPro Expert model)
- Different clearance combination of the bearings in the system
Generally:
In an overconstrained system the load distribution is not really predictable as it depends on the stiffness of the whole bearing-shaft-housing system:
- Shaft (and housing) geometry (--> stiffness)
- Bearing type and internal geometry
- Clearance/preload of each bearing in the system (distribution of the clearance of all bearings in the system)
- Position of the bearings
- Position of applied boundaries
- ...
