Description:
In the attached models a TRB set (back-to-back arrangement) with a CRB is used. An external radial load is applied on the shaft.
The geometry of the shaft is changed.
The models will demonstrate and explain the effect of a change of the shaft geometry (a change of the shaft stiffness) on the reaction forces/moments (and consequently on the calculated rating life) in the bearing-shaft system.
A detailed explanation can be found in the report of the corresponding model.
- Option 1: using a plain shaft
- Option 2: using a shaft with a proper geometry
Generally:
In an overconstrained system, the load distribution is not really predictable as it depends on the stiffness of the whole bearing-shaft-housing system:
- Shaft (and housing) geometry (--> stiffness)
- Bearing type and internal geometry
- Clearance/preload of each bearing in the system (distribution of the clearance of all bearings in the system)
- Position of the bearings
- Position of applied boundaries
- ...
